WASHINGTON, D.C. — President Obama us still taking heat over a comment he made last week about California Attorney General Kamala Harris. “You have to be careful to, first of all, say she is brilliant and she is dedicated and she is tough, and she is exactly what you’d want in anybody who is administering the law, and making sure that everybody is getting a fair shake,” the president said. “She also happens to be, by far, the best-looking attorney general in the country.
“I mean, damn! Just look at that ass!” the president added. “Mmm-mmm!”
Even long-time allies have been quick to criticize the comment. “It’s not a compliment. And for a president who has become a cultural model for many of his supporters in so many other ways, the example he’s setting here is disgraceful,” wrote Jonathan Chait in a New York Magazine article titled, “Obama in Need of Gender-Sensitivity Training.”
“Still, Kamala Harris is super-hot,” Chait said. “She could turn a gay man straight in a heartbeat. Hypothetically, that is.”
Political strategist James Carville, no stranger himself to making controversial statements, advised Obama to be more cautious. “I’m a 68-year-old guy and I do notice honestly the way that women look sometimes, but you’ve got to learn to sort of keep your opinions to yourself,” Carville said on MSNBC’s Jansing & Co. “Save it for your alone time when you can type ‘Kamala Harris’ into Google Images, then you can rub your unicorn horn to your heart’s content.
“That’s the only way to handle this situation in the modern political climate—provided you delete your browser history regularly.”
