WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – To celebrate America’s state fair season, Krispy Kreme is releasing two new doughnuts: the Cotton Candy and the Caramel Apple Cake. The Cotton Candy doughnut is an original Krispy Kreme glazed doughnut dipped in cotton candy sugar, and the Caramel Apple Cake doughnut is an apple doughnut drizzled with caramel icing. “As part of our dedication to our customers, we here at Krispy Kreme continue to make revolutionary advances in the science of fried, doughy, sugary delicacies,” the company said in an official statement. “There was a time when Americans had to settle for fried dough covered in sugar or sugar-based glaze to meet their confectionary desires. Krispy Kreme has blown that obsolete methodology apart by covering our sugar-covered or sugar-based-glaze-covered fried dough with a second, supplementary layer of sugar or sugar-based glaze. These will be available from August 20 to September 30 at participating Krispy Kreme locations.
“You’re welcome, America. You’re welcome.”
Krispy Kreme is also pairing their new doughnuts with two similarly flavored beverages: the Frozen Cotton Candy Chiller and the Caramel Latte, which can be served hot or on ice. “These new beverages are more than just great complements to our new doughnuts, there is also a practical side to them” said company spokesperson Lafeea Watson. “Shortly after eating our sugar-and-sugar-based-glaze-encrusted fried dough, consumers often feel lethargic, which can be a hazard when driving. To combat this, the Frozen Cotton Candy Chiller supplies consumers with that added sugar boost that will see them safely from our stores to their homes. For those consumers with longer rides ahead of them, we recommend the Caramel Latte. With its boost of caffeine added to the sugar boost, it’s just the thing to keep you alert while driving.
“This is all part of our dedication to keeping Americans safe and healthy.”
